Each of these mothers could and did do everything... except work outside the home. Depending on your age, you mother or grandmother likely was this type of mother.

Nowadays, almost all mothers suffer from the Super Mom Syndrome to some extent. Not only do they have to so much at home and with the family, many of them also hold down a full-time or part-time job that keeps them away from home for many of their waking hours. And a large number are also single moms, making this even more of a problem.

But nobody can do all of those things without it taking a toll on them. Trying to be a super mom often results in undue physical or emotional suffering and stress-related conditions. Many moms try and succeed, while others are not successful at it. While it may not seem fair, most likely personality plays a large part in a woman's success as a supermom.

So... are YOU trying to be one of those super moms? Do YOU suffer from Super Mom Syndrome? If so, here are a few supermom survival ideas to help you make it through the years until your kids are grown and life can settle down some.

1. Find a balance. Prioritize only the things that truly are important... namely, your children. Before you know it, they will be all grown up and you will be wishing for the childhood years again. If housecleaning or dressing to perfection has to suffer a little, so be it.

2. Maintain your health. Anyone who suffers from recurring health problems will tell you that the value of your health is much more important once you have lost it. Remember to take time for yourself.

3. Live within in the moment. Keep your friends close, cherish your family, don't worry about tomorrow. Don't let the Super Mom Syndrome keep you from enjoying life and living it to the fullest. Enjoy your children while they are growing up.

While these suggestions may seem trite or pithy, take them to heart. Try to follow them as much as possible. You won't be successful at it everyday... but there's always tomorrow.

If you get nothing else out of this article, remember this one thing - YOU, Super Mom, are the heart of your family. You don't need to be perfect; you just need to be a Mom.
